Graphic Novel
In 1991, Michigan-based Caliber Press published Northguard Book One: Manifest Destiny, which collected all the Northguard stories from New Triumph featuring Northguard, published 1984-88. Whether this book counts as a "graphic novel" or a "trade paperback" is subject to (intense, near religious) debate. Traditionally, in the comic book business, graphic novels are original works published in book format, while trade paperbacks are anthology-like compilations of comics previously published as periodicals. We say, whatever.
Be warned, because Caliber published a very small run of Northguard Book One, copies are actually much more rare on the ground than some of the original periodical comics. Go figure.
