Original Series

Northguard first appeared in New Triumph featuring Northguard #1, published by Matrix Graphic Series, a small-press owned by series writer Mark Shainblum. The anthology-style title "New Triumph" was an homage to the Second World War-era Triumph Comics. The original Triumph was arguably Canada's first comic book and was home to Nelvana of the Northern Lights, Canada's first and most famous superheroine.
